Athletic Department

Dr. Daniel Smith - Dean, Health, Physical Education, Dance/Athletics

The Health, Physical Education, Dance & Athletics Division is designed to give students the knowledge necessary to develop healthy lifestyles that will lengthen and enhance the quality of their lives. Within the athletic department, 19 intercollegiate sports are offered to the Cerritos student body. During each of the past nine years, we have finished in the top 10 in the state supremacy award, with a second place finish this past year and the year before. Points awarded are based on each teams finish in State Championship competitions. In 2015-16, the college won three state championships, including women's soccer, women’s tennis, and women's track and field.

From a facilities perspective, we are second to none. Our recently renovated gym is an outstanding facility. We successfully hosted the state men's and women's basketball championships in 2014 and 2015. In the past seven years we have also completed a new aquatic center, track, stadium field, soccer field, baseball field, softball field, and tennis court renovation. Painting and new equipment in the fitness and weight rooms round out our recent facility improvements. This gives us some of the best PE/Athletic facilities in the state and we are currently preparing to enter the construction phase for a massive health wellness complex and a new field house in front of the stadium.
