Returning to his roots, Zack Gonzalez will be in his first full season as a member of the Cerritos College coaching staff. He competed for the Falcons from 2017-18 and earned All-American honors his sophomore season. In 2018, Gonzalez recorded a 21-7 record and advanced to the finals of the 3C2A State Championships at 174 pounds after going 23-17 his freshman season and finished seventh at the state championships.
Gonzalez then transferred to Fresno State University, where he competed for the Bulldogs from 2020-21. He was a First Team Academic Big-12 selection as a junior and qualified for the Big-12 Tournament at 170 pounds his senior year.
A graduate of Lakewood High, Gonzalez won the CIF Championship and was named the Moore League Wrestler of the Year, Long Beach All-City and his school’s Wrestler of the Year. As a senior, he also finished fifth at the Masters Meet and was a state tournament qualifier.
Gonzalez has helped out on the Falcons coaching staff since 2022 and also contributed to the coaching staff at Lakewood High from 2017-22.
Gonzalez, 27, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Fresno State in 2022 and resides in Lakewood.
