The Cerritos College track and field teams delivered an impressive all-around performance this past weekend, highlighted by multiple state qualifying marks, personal bests, and a historic milestone on the men's side.
The Falcons' women's throws squad led the way with a dominant showing across all events. Mackenzie Monson had an outstanding meet, hitting three 3C2A State "A" standards in the hammer (55.14m), shot put (12.40m), and discus (41.18m). She was joined in the hammer by Aysia Mallory Feliciano (47.75m) and Miracle Siaosi (47.70m), who also reached the state standard. Siaosi added another qualifier in the shot put (11.69m), while Fellica (37.63m) and Siaosi (37.27m) continued their strong day in the discus.
In the javelin, Gianna Holloway secured a state mark with a throw of 33.13m, while Sanaa Trotter cleared 1.55m in the high jump to meet the qualifying standard. The Falcons also capped off the meet with a standout performance in the 4x400m relay, as Jewel Scott, Angel Corral, Nyla Nolan and Naleyah Davis combined to run 3:58.13, earning a state "A" mark.
On the track, Nolan led the way in the 400m with a time of 59.01, while Davis clocked 12.46 in the 100m. Corral (25.70) and Nolan (25.75) turned in strong performances in the 200m, and Monserrat Malo doubled in the distance events with solid efforts in both the 1500m (5:18.90) and 800m (2:35.04).
The men's team was equally impressive, highlighted by a historic performance from Juan Flores. Flores ran 3:56.35 in the 1500m, improving his own state-leading time and moving to No. 5 all-time in Cerritos College history. He later returned to post a strong 1:57.65 in the 800m, showcasing his range.
In the field events, Damian Salas (51.03m) and Francisco Arechiga (50.59m) both hit state standards in the hammer throw, while Dang Tran qualified in both the shot put (14.28m) and discus (44.11m). Tyler Robinson added another state mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.89m.
The Falcons' sprint group also had a productive day, led by Xavier Williams, who ran 10.84 in the 100m and 22.05 in the 200m. Jonathan McCullough (11.08/22.67) and Jeremiah Atkins (50.89 in the 400m) contributed strong efforts, while Logan Smith paced the hurdlers with a 15.57 finish in the 110m hurdles.
Cerritos also showcased impressive depth in the distance events, particularly in the men's 1500m and 800m, where multiple athletes posted competitive times and continued to build momentum heading into the heart of the season.
