With only 14 points separating the first place and fifth place teams at the Palomar Invitational on Friday, the Cerritos College women's cross country team finished with 93 team points, which put them in fifth place. Victor Valley College won the meet with 79 teams points, with Southwestern College in second place with 88 team points. Tied for third place were Imperial Valley College and the host Comets with 90 points, while the Falcons were a close fifth place. The team will now embark on their first out-of-state competition, as they travel to Nashville (TN) for the Commodore Invitational on Saturday.

Leading the way for Cerritos at Palomar were freshmen Ambrileen Lee (Rancho Alamitos HS) and Gabriella Villalobos (El Rancho HS), who finished within nine seconds of each other. Lee was the 14th runner to finish three-mile race with a time of 21:24.91, while Villalobos placed 15th overall in 21:33.37. Not far behind was sophomore Jessica Yuen (Mark Keppel HS), who posted a time of 21:50.69, which netted her an 18th place finish.

Also grouping together to comprise the final team score were freshmen Roxana Lopez and Jessica Guzman (California HS), who came in 26th and 27th places, respectively. Lopez was clocked in 22:30.29, with Guzman finishing in 22:31.09. Rounding out the team were freshman Brittany Guzman (41st place; 23:23.13), freshman Sushama Sharma (Gahr HS; 47th place; 23:53.57) and freshman Christal Espinoza (52nd place; 24:11.71).
