For the first time in its 10-year history, Cerritos College leads the state in the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) standings. The Falcons have compiled 109 team points after the fall season and lead second place American River College by seven points. Cerritos has never won the state title in the NATYCAA Cup, but has come in second place in 2007-08 and 2008-09, while they won the Southern California title in 2007-08 and place second the year after.

Leading the way for the Falcons was the women's soccer team, who collected 20 team points for winning the state title. It was their third championship in the last six seasons. The men's water polo team earned the college 18 points for their program-best third place finish, while the men's and women's cross country teams generated 15 points each for their respective sixth place finishes at the state championship. For advancing to the third round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs, the men's soccer team collected 14.5 team points, with the women's water polo team earning 13.5 points for finishing fourth at the Southern California Championships. Finally, the wrestling team picked up 13 points for placing eighth at the state championships. The only two teams not to earn any points were the football and volleyball teams, who both missed the playoffs.

A college is awarded points based on its team’s final positions in post-conference competition. Each college’s top-five men’s and top-five women’s team results count toward the school’s overall point total. NATYCAA is the professional organization of two-year college athletic administrators and membership is open to all two-year institutions from throughout the country. The NATYCAA Awards were designed to recognize and reward overall program excellence at the two-year college level.  The criterion for the State Associations division was developed by the CCCAA in conjunction with the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA). This is  the tenth year that NATYCAA has sponsored a State Associations division.
