After two very successful Cerritos College Hall of Fame inductions, the college is now accepting nominations for the 2014 class. In 2013, the college welcomed coach Gene Martin as Distinguished Coach, Hall of Fame soccer player Marcelo Balboa as Distinguished Male Athlete and national champion volleyball player Traci Dahl as Distinguished Female Athlete in the second year of the college's Hall of Fame. In 2012, Cerritos introduced Wally Kincaid (coach) Ron Yary (male athlete) and Barbara Reinalda (female athlete) to the college's inaugural class.

Deadline to sumbit your Hall of Fame Nomination Form is Friday, November 15 and can be emailed to Sports Information Director John Van Gaston (jvangaston@cerritos.edu) or by fax at (562) 467-5009. The 2014 Cerritos College Hall of Fame will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Norwalk.

The Distinguished Athletics Hall of Fame Award will recognize individuals from the following categories: Male Athlete, Female Athlete and Coach/Administrator. These awards will be given annually and need not be awarded each year. A detailed biography and at least one letter of support must be submitted for consideration. Supplemental information (i.e. newspaper clippings) may also be submitted.

          Selection Criteria for Male and Female Athlete

  • Candidate must have competed in one or more sports while attending Cerritos College for five (5) or more years prior to date of induction (e.g. if last competed in 2008, eligible for induction in 2014).
  • Candidate may be awarded posthumously.
  • A detailed biography including name and years of the sport(s) athlete participated in, honors received and/or achievements after leaving Cerritos College (i.e. university/college or clubs, professional leagues, degrees obtained or career awards).


  • Selection Criteria for Coach/Administrator
  • Candidate must have coached in one or more sports in an athletic program at Cerritos College.
  • Candidate will be eligible two or more years after finishing his/her coaching career at the college.
  • Candidate may be awarded posthumously.
  • A detailed biography including name and years of the sport(s) coached, honors received and/or achievements after leaving Cerritos College (i.e. university/college or clubs, professional leagues, or career awards.
