After opening a 2-0 first half lead over host El Camino College on Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's soccer team went on to record a 3-1 South Coast Conference South Division win. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Falcons (5-8-4, 4-3-0), who moved into second place in the division with two more regular season games remaining before the start of the conference tournament. Cerritos will travel to Los Angeles Harbor College for a 4:00 p.m. game on Friday.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Jessica Arroyo (Buena Park HS) finished a rush downfield to connect on her third goal of the season. Cerritos continued to put offensive pressure on the Warriors (7-6-3, 3-3-1), which paid off in the form of a corner kick. On the play, Lissette Saucedo (Huntington Park HS) got off a shot attempt that didn't make it to the goalkeeper. However, on the attempted clear by El Camino, Ariana Rivera (Long Beach Millikan HS) was able to gain control of the ball and sent a pass to Sariah Sanchez (La Sierra HS), who knocked home her seventh goal of the year.

Goalkeeper Alexis Bakalar (Los Alamitos HS) came up with several big saves in the first half, but El Camino was able to sneak a shot passed her in the 52nd minute to make it a 2-1 Cerritos lead.

However, less than 10 minutes later, the Falcons regained their two-goal lead on a nice shot by Saucedo. On the day, Cerritos was able to score their three goals on just five shots on goal.

Bakalar, who picked up her first win of the season, turned away nine El Camino shots.
