Through the first 25 minutes of the game, the Cerritos College football team was successfully trading blows with #2-ranked Mt. San Antonio at Falcon Stadium on Saturday night. Leading, 20-14, the Falcons turned the ball over after holding the Mounties, which gave them possession of the ball at the Cerritos 15-yard line. That started a downward spiral the remainder of the night, as the Mounties posted a 45-20 decision. Cerritos will travel to Moorpark College next week for a 6:00 p.m. game.

Cerritos turned the ball over on their next possession, with Mt. SAC driving 31 yards on four plays to extend their lead to 28-20. By the end of the half, the Mounties led 35-20, with their next touchdown coming on a failed fourth down rushing attempt in their own zone.

The offense showed a fair amount of success, but could not overcome the miscues and a pair of big-play scoring strikes for Mt. San Antonio.

Freshman quarterback Jeremiah Calvin (Mayfair HS) played exceptionally well on the night, as he converted 27-of-31 passes for 321 yards and one touchdown. He drove the ball downfield with ease at times and connected with 10 different receivers, with sophomore Malachi Wright (Mayfair HS), who caught a TD pass, and freshman Charles Clinton II (Long Beach Poly HS) each pulling in seven passes. Sophomores Trey Pinkney (Bellflower HS) and Josh Cason (Long Beach Poly HS) each had five receptions.

Sophomore linebacker Adrian Castro (La Serna HS) finished the night with a team-high six tackles, while Danny F. Washington (Buena Park HS), Ezra Mueller (Norwalk HS), Keion Andrew (Downey HS), DeVaughn Garner-Egans (St. Paul HS) and Clarence Chaney (JSerra HS) each recorded five stops on the night. Eight different players had a hand in tackles for loss.
