Falcons Post State Qualifiers and Strong All-Around Performances at Cerritos Open and Multi

Competing at the Cerritos Open, the Falcons track & field program delivered an impressive showing on its home track, highlighted by multiple 3C2A State "A" qualifying marks and strong performances across nearly every event group.

On the women's side, the Falcons were led by a dominant effort in the throwing events. Mackenzie Monson headlined the group with a state qualifier in the hammer throw (53.32m) and added another in the shot put (12.46m), while also hitting the standard in the discus (39.39m). Aysia Mallory Feliciano matched that momentum, qualifying in both the hammer (47.75m) and discus (39.48m), while Miracle Siaosi added a state mark of her own in the hammer (45.14m).

In the multis, Taylor Kline delivered a standout performance in the heptathlon, scoring 3,637 points to reach the state "A" standard. Maricela Herrera (3,113) and Ashlyn Bradley (2,878) also contributed solid efforts.

The Falcons continued their success in field events as Naleyah Davis cleared a state-qualifying 1.55m in the high jump, while Gianni Holloway reached the standard in the javelin (34.42m).

On the track, Nyla Nolan posted a strong 2:18.51 in the 800m to qualify for state, while the 4x400m relay team of Davis, Angel Corral, Taaliah Stephenson, and Deona Standifer clocked a qualifying 48.00. A second relay squad of Jayla Barnwell, Corral, Nolan, and Standifer also hit the standard, finishing in 3:58.79.

The women's distance group showed depth in the 1500m, led by Jayla Barnwell (5:05.10) and Esther Gonzalez (5:05.81), while Gonzalez also ran 11:05.75 in the 3000m. In the sprints, Corral, Standifer, and Stephenson all turned in strong 200m performances, each finishing near the top of the field.

For the men, Cerritos saw big performances in both the multis and relays. Roman Sanson (5,656 points) and Logan Smith (5,530 points) each achieved the state "A" standard in the decathlon, leading a strong showing in the combined events.

In the throws, Francisco Arechiga reached the state mark in the hammer throw (50.57m) and added solid marks in both the shot put (13.67m) and discus (40.14m). Dang Tran also contributed with a 40.22m throw in the discus.

The Falcons' sprint group was highlighted by a state-qualifying 4x100m relay team of Xavier Williams, Ethan Rosborough, Nolan Kolbly, and Jonathan McCullough, who clocked 41.85. The 4x400m relay squad of Williams, Rosborough, Axel Rebolledo-Ynostros, and Adrian Lopez also met the state standard with a time of 3:19.54.

In the distance events, Juan Flores led the way with a state-qualifying 3:57.28 in the 1500m, while Louis Santibanez (8:59.09) dipped under nine minutes in the 3000m. The 800m group showed impressive depth, with multiple runners finishing under two minutes, including Rebolledo-Ynostros (1:55.80) and Flores (1:57.29).

Additional highlights included  Rosborough's strong 21.76 in the 200m, Tyler Robinson's efforts in both the long jump (6.65m) and triple jump (12.81m), and Jesus Diaz clearing 4.20m in the pole vault.
