Including the 14 points they earned at the SoCal Decathlon Championships, the Cerritos College men's track and field team has compiled 63 team points after the South Coast Conference Prelims on Tuesday. The finals will take place on Saturday at Long Beach City College.

Luke Johnson (Paramount HS), who won the Southern California Championship in the decathlon, earned the team 10 points, while Roman Sanson (Downey HS) earned three points with his sixth place result and Jacob Begay (Long Beaxch Jordan HS) picked up the other point by coming in eighth place.

In all, five events were completed on Tuesday, with the Falcons scoring in four of them.

Freshman Francisco Arechiga (California HS) won the hammer with a distance of 46.53 meters, which also placed him in the top 10 in the state. Also scoring points for the team in the event were the trio of Ryan Gomez (California HS), Alonzo Diaz (Downey HS) and Matthew Bautista, who finished in fifth through seventh places, respectively. Arichega also picked up a third place finish in the shot put with a best throw of 13.02 meters to earn the six team points.

The Falcons picked up 10 more team points in the 10,000 meters when sophomore Robert Guerrero (Long Beach Poly HS) came in second place in a tight race. His time of 32:39.69 was not far off from the winning time of 32:31.78. Sophomore teammate Jacob Cosio (California HS) finished in seventh place with his time of 33:24.1.
