Opening conference action on Wednesday at home, the two-time defending 3C2A State Champion Cerritos College women's wrestling team recorded wins over both Palomar College (50-0) and Moorpark College (49-0), who are in their first season. Next for the Falcons will be the 3C2A State Dual Championships on Saturday in Fresno, as the team looks for their third straight state championship in that event, as well.

Cerritos was aided in both matches by multiple forfeit wins, but recorded victories by pin in eight of the 10 matches that were contested. In the first match of the night against Palomar at 103 pounds, Oceanna Yeung (South Torrance HS) found herself trailing 6-0 early on, but by the end of the first period she had fought back and led, 10-6. She was able to get Star Aragon on her back and registered a pin :22 seconds into the second period. All of the other pins on the night came in the first period.

In only two other matches against their opponents did a Falcon wrestler trail and it was just by a 1-0 score. At 110 pounds against the Comets, Vivian Nguyen (Westminster HS) was taken out of the circle in the first period and trailed, 1-0. However, she was able to work a pin against Luciana Frazao with just 15 seconds remaining in the first period. The quickest pin against Palomar came from Jaylene Martinez (Whittier HS) at 138 pounds, who only needed :26 seconds to finish off Vicky Ancheta.

In their first season in program history, Moorpark had five wrestlers take on the Falcons, with three ending in pins. Martinez finished her night in :39 seconds against Emily Hernandez at 138 pounds. Rontaysia Payne (Dickson County, TN HS) earned a technical fall at 131 pounds, as she defeated Ari Niesen, 10-0. A 10-point lead is considered a technical fall and the match is halted unless either wrestler is in pinning position. The Raiders were in their best position to score team points in the final recorded match of the night. At 207 pounds, the Falcons Raven Ross (Long Beach Poly HS) was trailing 8-7 after the first period against Danna Arellano. However, a stomach issue forced Arellano to injury default out of the match.
