Looking for a strong finish to complete the season, the Cerritos College women's cross country team was unable to get the type of performances they were hoping for, and dropped all the way to 18th place out of 27 schools at the California Community College Athletic Association State Championships, which were held at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday. The Falcons compiled 461 team points, which was well off what the team had anticipated. Glendale won the team championship with 30 team points, while three other South Coast Conference schools finished ahead of Cerritos.

Freshman Natalie Fyke (Esperanza HS), who had led the team all season, was unable to get her traction on the course and slipped all the way down to 144th place out of the 203 runners and was the sixth Falcon runner to complete the 5K course. Freshman Giselle Dominguez (Warren HS) completed the course in 20:13.70 to be the first Cerritos runner to cross the finish line, as she came in 82nd place.

The next four runners that help compile the team score finished 27 seconds apart, with freshman Alexis Perez (Cantwell HS) finishing in 104th place at 20:37.33, while freshman Julia Plecnik (St. Joseph HS) crossed the finish line in 20:43.54, which put her in 112th place. Sophomore Lauren Thompson (Mayfair HS) placed 124th overall time a time of 20:57.06, while sophomore Angela Gonzales (Lakewood HS) was 132nd overall in a time of 21:04.38. Also running for the Falcons was freshman Gabriella Villalobos (El Rancho HS), who ran the course in 21:46.81, good for 162nd place.
