After coming to Cerritos College as a third baseman in 2022, Calix Armijo (Mary Star of the Sea HS) capped off his career by earning All-American honors as a closer on the mound. He will be continuing his baseball career at Cal State Northridge and if the first Falcon to sign with the Matadors since Matt Gaylord in 2004.

Along with earning ABCA All-American honors, Armijo was also a 1st Team Pacific Association Southern California All-Region and 1st Team All-South Coast Conference selection.

On the year, Armijo set a new school record with 13 saves and posted a 1-2 record with a minuscule 0.47 ERA, which is the second lowest in school history with at least 35 innings pitched. He allowed just 16 hits and two earned runs in 38 innings, while he struck out 32 batters. Armijo didn't earn his first save until the ninth game of the season and had two streaks of four appearances in a row where he recorded a save. Armijo broke the old record of 11 saves by Mickey Manzo (2000), Nick Padilla (1998), Jason Marr (1995) and Steve Morales (1991).

He pitched a season-long 4 2/3 innings in the season's final game, while he had three other games in which he threw over three innings and earned a save on all three of those outings.

He will be joining a Cal State Northridge team that went 30-24 on the year and were poised to qualify for the Big West Tournament before dropping six of their last seven games.

Armijo will be looked to replace senior Joshua Romero, who recorded seven saves for the Matadors. 

Armijo joins Franky Lopez (Utah Valley University), DJ Massey (Utah Valley University), Alonso Reyes (UC Irvine), Anthony Bassett (Faulkner, AL University) and Marlon Oviedo (Faulkner, AL University), who have also made their four-year decisions.
