Falcons Explode for 17 Hits in 15-1 Rout of East Los Angeles

The Cerritos College baseball team erupted for 17 hits and scored in five different innings on the way to a dominant 15-1 victory over East Los Angeles on April 23.

Cerritos wasted no time setting the tone, plating four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Tyler Peshke ignited the rally with a leadoff single and later scored on Mateo Heredia's RBI double down the left field line. CJ Berthon followed with a two-run single before Adam Smith capped the inning with an RBI knock to give the Falcons a 4-0 advantage.

The Falcons continued to build their lead in the third inning. Andrew Perez lifted a sacrifice fly to score Brody Cuellar, and Hudson Comer delivered the big blow with a three-run double to extend the lead to 8-0.

Cerritos added two more runs in the fourth inning on bases-loaded walks by Smith and Alejandro Rosas, stretching the margin to 10-0. Perez tripled down the left field line to score Berthon, and Rosas added a sacrifice fly to make it 12-1.

Cerritos capped its scoring in the seventh inning as Wyatt Ormonde delivered a two-run double and Jacob Curnean was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring home another run.

On the mound, Nolan Patterson turned in a strong performance, allowing just one run on five hits over seven innings while striking out six to earn his seventh win of the season. Nicholas Moreno and Caleb Orr combined for two scoreless innings in relief to close out the game.

Offensively, Heredia led the way with a 3-for-4 effort, including a double, three runs scored and an RBI. Berthon was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored, while Comer drove in a game-high three runs. Smith and Perez each added two RBI in the balanced offensive attack.
