In their final opportunity to fine-tune their performances, the Cerritos College women's track and field team sent four of their throwers to the Cal State Long Beach Invitational over the weekend. On Tuesday, the Falcons will take part in the South Coast Conference Prelims at Long Beach City College, with the finals slated for Saturday.

Sophomore javelin thrower Kyra Miedecke (Ontario Christian HS/Mt. San Antonio College) made the most of her opportunity, as she moved into second place on the college's all-time list with her distance of 42.92 meters, which put her in seventh place. Her distance moved her into the top spot in the state, as she passed Orange Coast College's Maya Rush, who previously held the state's best distance at 42.45 meters. Miedecke is closing in on the school record distance of 45.61 meters, set by Mystasia Alexander in 2017.

The duo Mackenzie Monson (South Torrance HS) and Tupouahau Tauaika (Orange Lutheran HS/UC Davis) currently hold the second and third best distances, respectively, in the state in the shot put. They both took part on Saturday, with Tauaika coming in 36th place at 12.76 meters, with Monson in 45th place at 12.30 meters. Monson also took part in the hammer (50.88 meters; 30th place) and discus (40.75 meters; 56th place), while Emily Ortiz (Tustin HS) competed in the hammer (39.61 meters; 54th place) and discus (38.99 meters; 65th place). Ortiz currently has the third best discus (43.75 meters) and hammer (46.97 meters) in the state, while Monson is second in the state in the hammer at 51.62 meters.
