Mackenzie Monson delivered a standout performance to lead Cerritos College at the Cerritos Invitational, highlighting a strong overall showing for the Falcons with multiple state-qualifying marks.
Monson improved her No. 1 ranking in the 3C2A state standings in the hammer throw with a winning mark of 56.29 meters, moving within 22 centimeters of the Cerritos College school record. She also posted state "A" standard marks in both the shot put (12.86m) and discus (44.48m), capping a dominant day in the throws.
The Falcons showcased impressive depth in the hammer, with Aysia Mallory Feliciano (50.82m) and Miracle Siaosi (46.72m) also reaching state "A" standards. That momentum carried into the discus, where Feliciano (44.43m) and Siaosi (44.24m) joined Monson in hitting qualifying marks.
On the track, Cerritos continued to excel with several strong performances. The 4x100-meter relay team of Kaliyah Johnson, Angel Corral, Taaliah Stephenson, and Naleyah Davis clocked a state "A" qualifying time of 48.72.
Individually, Deona Standifer recorded a state standard in the 400 meters (57.99), while Corral met the mark in the 200 meters with a time of 24.75. Taylor Kline added a qualifying performance in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.18).
The Falcons closed out the meet with another standout relay, as the 4x400-meter team of Nyla Nolan, Corral, Jewel Scott, and Monserrat Malo posted a state "A" time of 4:04.17.
Cerritos also received solid performances across distance and field events, including a 5:01.98 finish in the 1500 meters by Malo and a 13:00.68 effort in the steeplechase by Victoria Ruiz.
With multiple athletes hitting state standards and Monson leading the way with a near record-breaking performance, Cerritos continues to build momentum as the postseason approaches.
