Cerritos College sophomore decathlete Andrew Fowler (Los Alamitos HS) recorded a personal best 6054 points to finish in fourth place at the CCCAA State Championships over the weekend. For his efforts, Fowler earned All-American status, as the Falcons finished with 13 team points, putting them in a tie for 17th place in the team standings.

Fowler, who placed fifth at the Southern California Championships, made his move up the standings with his 810-point performance in the pole vault. His height of 4.70 meters was not only a personal best, it placed his name in the college's all-time top-five list. He also added a trio of fouth place finishes to help amass points over the course of the two-day, 10-event decathlon. He earned 726 points with his 400-meter time of 51.96, while his 110-meter HH time of 15.90 collected 744 points in the standings. The third event in which he recorded the fourth best mark came in the long jump where he cleared 6.21 meters, good for 632 points.

Also earning a fourth place finish in the championships was freshman hammer thrower Mason Crane (Corona del Mar HS). The holder of the college's third-best throw (52.49 meters), Crane recorded a distance of 51.41 meters, which was off his best distance. His personal best distance would have put him in second place on the day.

Just missing out on earning extra team points, the Falcons 400-meter relay team was edged out by the slightest of times. The quartet of Saadiq Jennings (Martin Luther King HS), Micqwaun Wright (Paramount HS), Jacob Garrett (Fountain Valley HS) and Tayric Elliott (Long Beach Poly HS) recorded a time of 41.74 to come in sixth place, with City College of San Francisco taking fifth place in 41.73. Less than one second separated third place from sixth place.
