Adding to her long list of accolades, Cerritos College softball pitcher Tatyana Cortez (La Serna HS) has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American team. Cortez has already been selected All-State, as well as 1st Team All-South Coast Conference. She becomes the third Falcons pitcher in as many seasons to earn All-American recognition, as she joins Reanna Carranza (2024) and Samantha Islas (2023). Cortez is also the 17th All-American in school history and fifth pitcher.

Including the postseason, Cortez is 22-10 overall with 24 complete games and 219 strikeouts in 218 innings. Her win total is tied for sixth in the state, while she ranks third in the state in innings pitched and is fifth in the state in complete games. Cortez is also second in the state with her 219 strikeouts. She tossed a five-inning no-hitter against Rio Hondo College and struck out 14 of the batters in the game. Cortez has struck out at least 10 batters in five games, which included a string of three times in four games. She's also tossed three two-hit games and has had a hand in eight shutouts.

Cortez has also had six at-bats and has a two-run home run to her resume.

Heading into the team's best-of-three series at Palomar College this weekend, Cortez is two appearances away from being just the 10th player in Cerritos history to reach 40 on the year and is two complete games away from moving into the program's all-time top 10. Additionally, her 219 innings pitched currently rank ninth in a season season, while her 218 punchouts are the third most in a season in school history.
