Traveling to Oxnard College on Wednesday for a non-conference game, the Cerritos College women's basketball team was on the wrong end of a 58-42 decision. The Falcons (1-4) will look to turn that around on Friday when they host Barstow College for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference game. It will mark the first time the Vikings have played at Cerritos.

Against the Condors (4-4), Cerritos trailed early, 12-2, but slowly started to work their way back into the game and scored five straight points. But Oxnard was able to take advantage of the Falcons troubles from the field, as they shot just 8-for-25 from the field in the first half, while the Condors countered by going 18-for-28 to open a 42-24 advantage.

Cerritos did limit them to just five points in the third quarter, but could not make up enough of their deficit, as they scored just 11 points. Looking to score their points three at a time, the Falcons went just 3-for-17 from long distance on the night.

Sophomore Lauryn Nakamura (Cypress HS) played all 40 minutes and led the team with 13 points, while freshman Destiny Elmore (La Mirada HS) posted eight points. The freshman tandem of Justine Lucero (South El Monte HS) and Emily Gonzalez (La Mirada HS) each scored six points and combined for 11 rebounds, with freshman Maya Aceves (Garfield HS) adding five points and four rebounds off the bench.
