Gonzalez Leads Strong Effort as Falcons Fall to LA Mission

Cerritos College women's basketball battled throughout four quarters but came up short in a 71–41 loss to LA Mission College on Monday afternoon at home.

Despite the final score, the Falcons showed grit on the glass and defensively, holding their own in stretches against a hot-shooting LA Mission squad. Cerritos competed hard inside, finishing with 43 rebounds as a team and limiting second-chance opportunities with strong defensive positioning.

Sophomore forward Emily Gonzalez delivered a standout performance, anchoring the paint with a game-high 16 rebounds while adding 8 points and a block in 38 minutes of action. Lauryn Nakamura paced the Falcons offensively with 10 points, attacking the lane and getting to the free-throw line, while Justine Lucero chipped in nine points and continued to apply pressure on the perimeter. Bryana Cervantes added seven points and five rebounds, and Carissa Basurto provided a spark off the bench with five points and two steals.

Cerritos showed its fight throughout the contest, continuing to push the tempo and defend aggressively despite LA Mission's efficient shooting night. The Falcons forced multiple turnovers and battled until the final horn, showcasing the effort and resilience that continues to define the program.

Cerritos will look to build on the positives from Monday's performance as the Falcons continue conference play and prepare for their next matchup.
