Nakamura’s 24 Points Lead Falcons in Home Contest Against Long Beach City

Cerritos College Women's Basketball put together a determined effort Wednesday night but came up short in a 72–46 loss to Long Beach City College.

The Falcons competed aggressively on the defensive end and were paced offensively by Lauryn Nakamura, who turned in a strong all-around performance with a game-high 24 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the floor while adding five assists and three steals. Nakamura consistently attacked the basket and kept Cerritos within reach through much of the contest.

Emily Gonzalez continued to be a steady presence in the paint, finishing with seven rebounds, a block, and three steals, while Justine Lucero added five points and two steals. Off the bench, Carissa Basurto provided a spark, knocking down two three-pointers and scoring six points in extended minutes.

Cerritos showed its fight defensively, forcing 26 Long Beach City turnovers and generating 12 steals, disrupting passing lanes and pushing the tempo. The Falcons also battled inside against a physical Vikings squad, competing on the glass throughout the evening.

Despite the final score, the Falcons continued to execute and play with energy until the final horn, showcasing resilience and effort on their home floor. Cerritos will look to build on the positives from the performance as conference play continues Friday at home against LA Southwest.
