The Cerritos College women's basketball team earned its first South Coast Conference victory of the season, defeating El Camino College 53–50 on Friday night at The Aviary behind a gritty defensive performance.

In a physical, low-scoring contest, the Falcons held El Camino to 27.5 percent shooting from the field and just 3-of-23 from beyond the arc. Cerritos outworked El Camino on the defensive end and limited second-chance scoring despite the Warriors rebounding edge and came up with timely stops in the final minutes to seal the home conference win.

Justine Lucero led the Falcons with 15 points, eight rebounds, and five assists while playing all 40 minutes. Lauryn Nakamura added 15 points, four steals and a block, providing steady production on both ends of the floor. Bryana Cervantes chipped in 12 points on an efficient 4-for-7 shooting night, knocking down two three-pointers.

Cerritos' interior presence was anchored by Emily Gonzalez, who pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, while Carissa Basurto gave the Falcons a spark off the bench with seven points, including two three-pointers.

Cerritos finished the night with 11 steals and forced 14 El Camino turnovers, turning defense into offense in a tightly contested conference matchup.

The Falcons will continue South Coast Conference play next week as they look to build momentum from Friday's win.
