Baseball: Chris Vopinek to coach in Cape Cod League this summer

Cerritos College assistant baseball coach Chris Vopinek will spend the summer on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League. A member of the Falcon coaching staff for the past two seasons, Vopinek spent the previous seven seasons coaching at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The Cape Cod Baseball League is the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the nation with players from across the United States representing all NCAA college divisions recruited to play in the 10-team league. Teams are located in Bourne, Brewster, Chatham, Cotuit, Falmouth, Harwich, Hyannis, Orleans, Wareham and Yarmouth-Dennis. The Cape Cod Baseball League has a 40-game regular-season schedule and an action-packed postseason made up of a winner-take-all quarterfinal followed by best-of-three semifinal and championship series. The league operates primarily with volunteers and has done so its inception, which is another unique and appealing quality that is the Cape Cod Baseball League.

In 2024, The Red Sox won the Cape Cod East Division championship and went on to lose in the second round of the playoffs to eventual champion Harwich Mariners. The manager for Yarmouth-Dennis is Cypress College head coach Scott Picker, who has served in the role for 27 years.

The Red Sox open their 2025 season on June 14.
