Former Cerritos College baseball player Nick Penzetta, who spent the 2018 season with the Falcons, has signed with the Chicago Dogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball. Penzetta, who transferred to Cal State Los Angeles after one season with Cerritos, played for the GarySouthshore RailCats of the American Association last season.

The American Association started in 1902 as an independent minor league for the larger cities in the midwestern area of the U.S. The league currently consists of 12 teams and is split in two leagues. The Chicago Dogs joined the league in 2018.

While with Cerritos, he batted .266 on the season with eight doubles, three triples, three home runs and drove in 22 runs. An injury kept him out of eight games, but returned to the starting lineup by going 4-for-6 with six RBI against Compton College and had hits in 11 of the team's final 16 games on the year. He drove in the game-winning run in a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over Los Angeles Pierce College in the first post-season game of the year.

He then spent the next three seasons playing for the Eagles, where he his .316 as a senior and had four doubles with nine RBI.

In his first professional season, he saw action in six games and went 2-for-17 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Since signing with the Dogs, Penzetta is 1-for-6 at the plate with an RBI and a walk.
