The Cerritos College softball team capitalized on timely hitting and aggressive base running to secure a 7-2 victory over Los Angeles Harbor College on Thursday afternoon at Nancy Kelly Field.

The Falcons used a five-run stretch over the middle innings to seize control, while the pitching staff limited the Seahawks to five hits and one earned run.

Cerritos opened the scoring in the second inning when Amarie Encarnacion delivered an RBI single to third base, plating Bella Salas for a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons added two more runs in the third. Sienna Contreras reached on a catcher's error that brought home Luna Villa, and Salas followed with an RBI fielder's choice to score Cynthia Hernandez, extending the advantage to 3-0.

After Harbor trimmed the deficit to 5-2 in the fifth, Cerritos tacked on single runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. Encarnacion laced an RBI double down the left field line to score Carissa Amaya in the fifth, and Tatyana Cortez added an RBI single in the sixth to bring home Chelsea Bomani for the final 7-2 margin.

Encarnacion paced the Falcons offensively, going 2-for-2 with two RBI and two stolen bases. Hernandez finished 1-for-1 with a double and two RBI, while Salas drove in a run and stole two bases. Cerritos totaled five stolen bases in the contest.

Mia Star Miramontes (3-1) earned the win with four innings of work, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out three. Cortez tossed the final three innings, surrendering two hits and one unearned run while striking out five.

The Falcons return to action Friday when they travel to Citrus College for a non-conference tilt.
