The Cerritos College softball team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, cruising to a 16-0 run-rule victory over Orange Coast College at Nancy Kelly Field.
The Falcons wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for four runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looking back. Cerritos added three runs in the third before breaking the game open with an nine-run fourth inning to secure the mercy-rule win.
Cerritos' offense was fueled by patience at the plate and timely hitting, drawing 12 walks while collecting 10 hits. Bella Salas led the way with three RBI, while Luna Villa went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Cynthia Hernandez delivered one of the biggest swings of the day, clearing the bases with a three-run double in the fourth inning.
Additional contributions came from Marley Cortez, who drove in a run and scored twice, and Amarie Encarnacion, who added an RBI and scored two runs. Alyssa Avila reached base multiple times, scoring twice and driving in a run, as the Falcons showcased depth throughout the lineup.
In the circle, Tatyana Cortez was in complete control, tossing a five-inning shutout to improve to 19-5 on the season. She allowed just four hits while striking out four and walking one in the efficient outing.
