There were very limited scoring opportunities in the Cerritos College women's soccer non-conference game against Ventura College on Tuesday. The best chances were presented to the Falcons, but were unable to capitalize on any of them. However, in the 83rd minute, the Pirates Sofie Stock was able to chip a shot past Falcons freshman goalkeeper Paulina Prescott (Downey HS) in a 1-0 game.

The Pirates (2-3-1) were awarded a corner kick late in the game after pressuring the Cerritos (1-5-1) defense. On the play, the ball bounced a few times in a group of players, with nobody getting a clean attempt at either clearing the ball or taking a shot on goal. The ball landed in front of Stock, who was able to get enough on her shot to go into the far corner of the goal for the game's lone tally.

Cerritos outshot Ventura, 18-8, with eight of their shots on goal against Pirates goalkeeper Janessah Gonzalez. The best opportunities came from sophomore Ariana Rivera (Long Beach Millikan HS), who had seven shots, with two of them on goal. She appeared to be in on a breakaway in the final few minutes with a chance to tie the game, but was unable to get off a shot. Rivera did have another chance earllier in the half, but took it from outside the 18-yard box, although she appeared to have more room to get closer to the goal.

Next up for the Falcons in a 3:00 p.m. home game against Fullerton College.
