Taking part in the final invitational before the start of the South Coast Conference Prelims, the Cerritos College men's track and field team only competed in two events at the Cal State Long Beach Invitational on Saturday. The prelims will take place at Long Beach City College on Tuesday, with the championships on Saturday.
The state leader in the 1500 meters, sophomore Joshua Melendez (St. Paul HS) took part in the invitational and posted a sixth place time of 3:54.91, which was off his leading time of 3:51.80. He was the lone community college runners in the race.
Also competing were the foursome of Xavier Williams (Paramount HS), Sebastian Lopez (Downey HS), Te'Quan Chatman (Bishop Verot, FL HS) and Terrance Williams in the 4x100-meter relay and they posted a ninth place time of 42.02.
