Looking to complete a season sweep over El Camino College on Wednesday, the Cerritos College volleyball team dropped a tough 20-25, 18-25, 25-21, 21-25 decision. The Falcons (10-9, 3-2) have three South Coast Conference matches in a row at home coming up, with the first being a 6:00 p.m. match against Los Angeles Harbor College (5-12, 2-3) on Friday.

Turning to the trio of freshmen Jordin Lewis (Warren HS), Tiffany Teats (Warren HS) and Elizabeth Beltran (Santa Fe HS), the Falcons looked to counter the size advantage the Warriors presented. Although the three combined for 41 of the team's 47 kills, El Camino was able to control the net and posted 10 total blocks. Cerritos didn't help their cause, as they committed 16 service errors on the night.

Cerritos trailed the entire first set, but did get as close as 19-18 after a pair of service aces from freshman Roselyn Tobie (Maxine Waters HS) and a kill from Lewis. The teams then traded points until El Camino secure the first set with five of the next six points. It was more of the same in the second set, with Cerritos struggling with their attack.

The third set saw the Falcons turn things around, as they saw a 6-5 lead become a 15-5 advantage with three kills from Teats, two service aces from Beltran and multiple El Camino attack errors. The Warriors were able to make it close, until freshman Gabriella Colombo (Cerritos HS) finished off the set with a kill. Cerritos opened up the fourth set maintaining their momentum and led, 8-3 before the Warriors put together a rally that gave them a lead they would not relinquish.

Along with her match-high 19 kills, Lewis also had nine digs, while Beltran recorded 20 digs to go along with her 10 kills. Tobie was phenomenal in the back row with a season-high 36 digs, while Colombo contributed five kills and 10 digs. Freshman setter Minerva Rodriguez (Gahr HS) finished the night with a season-high 42 assists, nine digs and four service aces.
