On Friday night, the Cerritos College volleyball team earned a 25-11, 26-24, 25-16 sweep over visiting Los Angeles Harbor College. For the Falcons (11-9, 4-2), the win moves them into second place in the South Coast Conference South Division, a half-game ahead of El Camino College. The team will host Compton College at 6:00 p.m. next Wednesday.

The first set was a complete dominant performance by Cerritos, but they required a late comeback to win the second set. On two occasions in that set, the Falcons were able to score a series of points to get back into the match and then to pull ahead late in the set. Trailing, 24-20, Cerritos ran off six consecutive points, including a pair of service aces from freshman Tiffany Teats (Warren HS).

Riding that momentum into the third set, the Falcons opened a big lead early on and finished off the Seahawks in three sets for the second time this season.

Freshman Elizabeth Beltran (Santa Fe HS) was her most affective in the first set, and went on to lead the team with 17 kills, while freshman Jordin Lewis (Warren HS) contributed 12 kills and six digs. As for Teats, she capped off the night with 11 kills and six service aces. Freshmen setters Minerva Rodriguez (Gahr HS) recorded 23 assists over the first and third sets, with Emma Rivera (Mayfair HS) playing the second set and posted 11 assists. The back row was controlled by freshman Roselyn Tobie (Maxine Water HS), who recorded 20 digs.
